Privacy Policy

Maqam Oud · Last updated: 18 September 2026

This policy describes how the Maqam Oud mobile application handles information. It describes the application only, not this website.

Maqam Oud has no accounts. You do not register, sign in, or give us a name, email address or phone number. We operate no server of our own, and the application sends nothing to us.

Microphone and audio

Maqam Oud listens to your playing so it can tell you which note you played and whether your timing was accurate. This happens only on screens where you have started a practice, tuning or training session.

Music files you import

You can import MusicXML and MXL files to practise your own pieces. Imported files, and the practice data derived from them, are written to the application's private storage on your device. They are not uploaded, and we cannot see them.

If you use the share or export feature, your device's own sharing interface sends the file wherever you choose. That transfer is yours, not ours.

Information stored on your device

The application saves the following locally so it can work between sessions: your lesson and mastery progress, practice history, your imported songs, your preferences (language, theme, tuning reference, note naming), how many free song imports you have used, and flags recording which purchases you own. Deleting the application removes this data.

Advertising

Maqam Oud shows advertising to users on the free tier, supplied by Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads). Google receives information from your device in order to serve and measure ads; this may include advertising and device identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, and technical details of your device. Google processes that information as an independent controller under its own policies.

Your advertising choices

Where the law requires it, Maqam Oud presents Google's consent form through the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) before requesting any ad. If no valid consent is available, no ad is requested.

Where a standing choice is required, the application shows a Privacy choices entry in Settings that reopens Google's form so you can review or change your decision.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple or Google Play. We never see or receive your payment details.

To know which features you own, the application uses RevenueCat, which validates store receipts and records your entitlements. RevenueCat identifies your installation by an anonymous identifier it generates; Maqam Oud does not send it your name, email address or any account identifier.

Reminders

If you enable practice reminders, they are scheduled and displayed by your device. They are local notifications: no push service is used and no notification token is sent anywhere.
